Project Investigator

Ruth Sargent Noyes, PhD

I hold a BA (Harvard University) and PhD (Johns Hopkins University) in the History of Art. My research takes up the issue of questions of the intersection of art, religion and science of the long Counter-Reformation in its global context, with special focus on cross-cultural perspectives between Italy and Northern Europe, including Germany, the Low Countries, and the Nordic-Baltic region. My most recent work highlights intercultural exchange between historical Italian realms and kingdoms and territories in the Baltic-Nordic sphere as reflected in art, architecture, and ritual during the 17th and 18th centuries.
